Student Work: Tend the Flame
A poetic collaboration with Wick Poetry Center
Tend the Flame is a collaborative poem written by teachers! It was created by the Wick Poetry Center at Kent State University in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the National Writing Project.
This model poem draws from lines written by National Writing Project teachers who participated in a writing workshop at the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Annual Convention on November 20, 2022, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
This animation is an interpretation of that poem by Visual Communication Design students in Professor Gretchen Rinnert's Motion Design II class. Each student had a section of the poem. They had to work with the same style, color palette and typefaces, but had their own section to design.
